Before I go screaming to Nikon, my A/F assist light does not come on. It's turned on in my menu's, but in a dark room with the lense cap on (or off) I get nothing. I have not yet had any low light focusing issues with this camera and kinda wonder if I need it. Is there settings that cancel each other out? Any idea's would be appreciated, sometimes we look too deep and miss the problem. Thanks guys

The AF assist light is only available when both conditions are met:

1. Single autofocus is selected for focus mode
2. Auto area AF is chosen for AF mode or single or dynamic area AF is chosen and the center focus point is selected.

Totally from memory. There is also a list of lenses, in the rear of the manual, where the light will not work

Thanks Fred, I almost always shoot continuous, explains it without me bashing my head off a manual.

Sleep in a different bed...it will come to you...just kidding....sorry no help here..

Lol, thanks Mike, I did try that. I ended up with some papers in the mail and still no assist light
