Well, I think my camera is defective. It is VERY loud when I press the shutter release down all the way. It also makes the same noise when I press the DOF preview button. It almost sounds like a stapler going through it's motions. I would guess it's the mirror lockup or whatever or the mirror moving, but it's pretty loud, enough to when I took my first pic I thought to myself, Oh, my, what is that noise???
Is it supposed to be that loud? Compared to the D50 it sounds like a piece of junk!
Hi I know what you mean, I've got a Fuji S3 Pro which I thought was a bit loud compared with other makes of digitals then just bought the Nikon D300 when I'm shooting a surf contest the whole beach knows I'm shooting. It's the loudest camera I've ever heard yet the store I bought it from asures me that there is nothing wrong with the unit. I also shoot with three different lenses and the noise is the same. On burst I've fired automatic wepons that are quiter.
