Hi,

I haven't used the 55-300, but have used the new 28-300 f3.5-5.6 FX lens. This I can vouch for. Great lens, great versatility.

I have had this lense since the first of October and have used it a great deal and I love it.  I replaced a 70-300 with no VR, and I can really tell the difference.  It was well worth the money that I paid for it.
