I started shooting with a Nikon F3 film. My first point and shoot was the Nikon L4 and now I shoot with the Nikon D200.
This is one of my first shots with the D200.
It has taken alot of work to get to know this camara and works for each situation, but thats the fun. The only problem I have with the D200 is the sensor can easily get spots on it and a constant cleaning must be done. That or alot of cloneing in photoshop to remove spots...I love the camara and hope soon my man will get tired of his D300 and upgrade so I can use that camara also..
So, what do you think of the D200? Are there others who shoot with this camara and what suggestions would you have for me?
Janice
Janice, what a peaceful, golden photo.
My D200 also has dust/spots on sensor, but I don't want to clean it myself, so need to bring it to store.
I use DxO pro elite, and do "batch" dust removal when importing (vertcl, horiz) - some spots remain at times.
Sensor cleaning on my D700 is big plus - though I still have lots to learn about its settings, and getting tricky metering correct.

I have a D200 and am extremely pleased with it. I've been shooting with it for 3 years and am finally getting some of the finest photos I've gotten yet. New lens and new techniques, I might add.
I have a dust spot on the prism above the grid. Not worried about it and it doesn't blow out. I blow out the mirror and prism area after most uses and I'm not getting any dust on the sensor, although I do have that cleaned once in a while also.
Want to mention, I've been a photographer for almost 30 years.

My first DSLR is the D200 and to tell you thats my workhorse on my wedding gigs.
Its an awesome camera with lots of features to be familiarized with.
I recommend the Visible Dust Cleaner for those pesky dust. I used it all the time, coz of the nature of my work I changed lens time to time and dust attracts an open body. :) ..... Put a 17-55 DX 2.8 all the time and you got one awesome arsenal.
Cheers,
Alvin
Very nice photo Janice. I also started with an F3. Best manual film camera ever. I still have it. I have no experience with a d200 but I have a d300 and it is awesome. Hope your man upgrades soon so that you can have his d300.
I am shooting with a Nikon D200. There is a D200 group which needs more members. You may consider there also. a apropos the D200 I believe I have found mu soul mate! Having use Nikon for quite a few years and moved through the FEs Fm, EMs, FGs, N/X90. Then on to the D50 and D100, the D200 is a mighty powerful friend. Coupled to the 18-200mm zoom this is my dream come true. Unfortunately my photo taking has not yet caught up the camera's capabilities. I have not had trouble with my sensor...and hopefully will not! ciao MB
Fantastic image Jeff...I have my main lens I use for landscape and its a 28x200mm. Hubby has many lens, like a great macro lens. After seeing your pic I will see if he has a 16x85VR.
Hi Janice,
I’ve been using the D200 since it first came out – it’s a great camera and I’ve been happy with the results.
Dust on the sensor is a problem for most digital SLR cameras – I don’t like it at all when it gets on to my camera.
There are ways to minimize dust getting on to the sensor - when changing lenses hold the camera body facing downwards to minimize dust falling on to the sensor – also try not to change lens in strong windy conditions.
My problem is I do blow it with each lens change and even my pro hubbly has cleaned the sensor many times. Its not a dust or lent problem it spots that have dried on the sensor probly back when Lance was using it and changing lenses while shooting water falls. I think water dried on the sensor and now are black spots. I use photoshop to remove them. Its not a hugh deal, just a pain....but I am really getting more used to the camara and getting better results. Went to Key West Florida this month and got some awsome shots with my D200 so I will not let spots stop me.
I have a D200. I don't have the issue with the sensor getting dirty, but then again I'm picky about how I change lenses and I make sure that my mirror stays clean.
