I am new to this site and this forum and I have searched for an answer but I have failed to find any information, so I am asking for help.

I was wondering how many of you you use the Nikon software Capture NX?
I use NX 99% of the time for my photographs and the other 1% is Photoshop.
Is there a group for Capture NX?
I do not expect to see answers like Photoshop, Aperture, Lightroom and the rest is better.

I use NX about 90% of the time, Photoshop Elements about 10%.

If I had the full Photoshop, I imagine it would occupy a larger % of my workflow, but overall I like NX.
Tried Capture NX, and it had some very nice features, such as option to apply certain adjustments on selected areas, but it was a while ago. I have friend who's testing out importing software, so I'd be interested in others' NX experiences.

I use Photoshop CS4 w. OnOne Suite plug-ins... and import with DxO Pro elite. ( Just didn't click with LR2.)
i like NX.. i use it mainly just for viewing my photos if they are in raw format and converting them in jpg's ... i use photoshop everyonce in a while if there is something really wrong with the photo or if i just want to try something different.
Fully agree with Doug. I mainly (if not solely :) ) shoot in RAW and I process photos in NX2 - which is far better than previous versions - and I only make slight final adjustments in Photoshop CS4 (minor, like copyright add and such).
I afully agree we should form a group on Capture NX, there's a lot to discuss and exchange.
I use Capture NX to convert all my work and tweak some pics. I downloaded Capture NX2 as a trial copy which it asked to register to get a key. If someone can help because when I try to get the key nowhere on any Nikon site can I register to get it and nowhere can I find a price on purchasing a copy. Nikon SA uses Nikon UK for all technical advise and not much joy there either. Nikon's service in the USA is great. The problem is they keep on referring me back to my country. Great product - crappy service this side of the earth guys.
Thanks all of you for replying. Maybe we should start up a group where we can help each other out.

Jonathon did you know there is a free Nikon software, View NX, that acts as a browser, so you can view the NEF files? Have a search on your Nikon site.

Glen, now from memory, I think the USA is the only Nikon site that sells the key. You should be able to get that key from one of your local software suppliers. Failing that, I have been with NX since version 1. My version 2 is installed with the key from version 1. Version 1 is a lot cheaper than 2, if you can find it.

As for resources I have used Jason O'dell e book and videos.
www.luminescentphoto.com/
details are on there somewhere
Thanks Fred

I got Capture NX Version 1.3 that came with the D300 but it had no key just load and go. So when I've tried to update to Version 2 it asks for a key. Bought the camera in South Africa now wondering if there are bogus Nikon's in the market in Africa.
Nikon has never given away NX, you always have to pay for it one way or another
Hello Glen
I got my NX1.3 with the purchase of the D300 and the serial came in the cover. I believe it's rapped in a triptical and the serial is on the bottom of the middle page. You should check it.
I also have Capture NX2 and would like to learn more of how to use it more fully. I have have Jason O'Dell's e-book. An NX or NX2 groupp would be great. I find myself using Lightroom 2 more but it is only because I am more familiar with it. Learning from others about capture NX2 would be great.
I use CaptureNX at least 95%. PS is for borders and stamping...
I have set up a group called Nikon Capture NX. It is open for business and awaiting new members, hope to see you all in there.
