For people who own Nikon cameras and lenses. It doesn't matter if it's SLR or point and shoot. This group is for discussion on your experiences with having a Nikon camera.

Nikon has been renowned for high-quality optics and camera equipment since they were founded in 1919. The history of Nikon cameras began in 1948, the year that the Nikon I, the company's first camera was released. Today Nikon continues that legacy with an outstanding line of digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras including the D90, D300, D800, D3 and the new D3x.
This group is a place for users of all Nikon digital SLR and point-and-shoot cameras to share their experiences, demonstrate techniques through example, and discuss Nikon's latest offerings.
CAUTION: Camera brand debates will not be tolerated in this group. Do not post "Canon vs Nikon or Pentax vs Nikon" threads. Do not ask which camera is better (exceptions on Nikon Cameras only). Discussions of this type will be promptly deleted.
Cheers!~
Maeda

Fred - Thanks for all your previous advice. You can imagine how precious they are to me here, in isolated Mauritius. I have decided to try the 60-day free trial of the Capture NX2 from the USA website; and then purchase it of course, if it opens the NEFs of my D3000 and D7000. Must my uninstall my present lame NX2 which does not open NEF at all, before downloading the free trial?
Comment by Fred on January 26, 2013 at 4:44am One of the first items most people want is a flash unit but I went for, on my first Nikon, a 50mm lens f/1.8.
I still use it today but it only works on manual, not auto focus, bought for a film unit, best lens I ever bought.

Your comment on equipment is so true. It's always nice to buy new gear but it really has little to do with making one a better photographer.
I wonder how many people really study their camera manual to learn how to get the most from it. I'm still using a Nikon D70 and see little need to upgrade.

Comment by Maeda on March 28, 2012 at 7:54am Nikol@s.P: Hello Sir, I think you can't avoid the noise of the AF. Maybe another solution is just to focus manually to avoid the noise. :)
