THE GROUP.

Nikon has been renowned for high-quality optics and camera equipment since they were founded in 1919. The history of Nikon cameras began in 1948, the year that the Nikon I, the company's first camera was released. Today Nikon continues that legacy with an outstanding line of digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras including the D90, D300, D800, D3 and the new D3x.

This group is a place for users of all Nikon digital SLR and point-and-shoot cameras to share their experiences, demonstrate techniques through example, and discuss Nikon's latest offerings.

Cheers!~
Maeda

Downloaded NX2 update, installed and it works on four different types of cameras, so no problems

Comment by Fred on February 6, 2013 at 1:52am

To all of you Capture NX2 software the news is another update. You can read all about it here:

https://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/55341

I am now going to download it myself

Tony

What are you going to take photographs of with a macro lens? There are quite a few out there but they offer different outlooks.

Comment by Fred on January 29, 2013 at 1:51am

Tiberman

It does not matter how old the software is, once you have bought it you have a serial number. That serial number will work on any update that Nikon supplies, you do not have to keep making NIKON any richer by purchasing a update everytime the produce one. Nikon also allow the user to install their software on two computers because most photographers have a laptop and desktop.

If you are having problems with the software, yes uninstall it, so that you help reduce anything that is wrong. I would also try running a registry cleaner to help remove anything wrong in there (get one from www.cnet.com). Install your new software than enter your serial number and the software will run forever or untill Nikon bring out a new version.

Hi all,  I have been using the D3100 for about 2 years now and just bought a D5100. I only have the kit lens so I have the 55-300 on the D51oo and the 18-55 on the D3100.  Between the 2 cameras there is a lot to learn.  I do want a good Macro lens so I am saving my pennies.

I cannot help adding a point to Fred's nostalgic 50mm, f/1.8. My daughter bought this lens for me at the Dubai duty free. My Nikon D7000 focusses it OK. I also have the more expensive 50mm, f/1.4. BUT the f/1.8 gives better shots; better white balance, tack sharp and no distortions; definitely.

Fred - I meant 'Must I uninstall my present.....'

Comment by Tiberman Sajiwan Ramyead on January 26, 2013 at 10:24am

Fred - Thanks for all your previous advice. You can imagine how precious they are to me here, in isolated Mauritius. I have decided to try the 60-day free trial of the Capture NX2 from the USA website; and then purchase it of course, if it opens the NEFs of my D3000 and D7000. Must my uninstall my present lame NX2 which does not open NEF at all, before downloading the free trial?
