Does anyone know what RICOH has planned for Pentax? They discontinued most of the line of cameras. The K5 is their only DSLR and there's a rumor that is to be discontinued.

As rightly said, ".. very friendly community" makes Pentax still breath.

I am one of the proud owners of Pentax K-x and few priceless  Pentax & M42 manual lenses.

Elmer in case you did not already find how to look up your firmware version.

K-7
To check the version number, turn your camera on while holding down the MENU button.
The version number will appear in the center of the LCD screen.

I started with the K-110 super then the K-200, then the K-20, then a big disappointment with the K-7 (should have stayed with the K-20), and finally the great K-5 (shouldn't have to upgrade for at least the next model)

James  Smith,

I had the K-7 and just upgraded to the K-5.  Trust me when I say spend the extra and go for the K-5.  It is not really an upgrade it is a totally new camera.  I could not believe the difference.  There is no comparison!

I would like for my next Pentax to be the K-7. Here is a great article about this relatively inexpensive and high performance camera.
