Angle is good, but i think the shadow could have been avoided by proper lighting.

the image suffers a little from lack of proper lighting, also the expression looks like someone had just asked him to attempt a smile - i think a better image would be had from a candid approach..

Have a look at this photograph (below link) of a Chimney boy and see how the light transforms the image into an outstanding photograph

Note also the way his eyes are on the one third line by cropping part of the head..

hello Gary....the expression on the child's face is natural...she was smiling like that itself..anyway..i understand about the lightning...i am adding another photo of this child...may be it looks better..

For me personally in this one the subject is too low down in the frame being the eyes are slightly below the center line - the expression is different :))
