I like the contrast between the saturated colors of the flies and the dark grey. Rule of thirds = ok. I just wish the depth of field wasn't that shallow, I feel like I'm missing some details of the main fly: only its head is in sharp focus and I'd like to see the patern of the wings.

Thank you Lea. I shall try again and post another picture. I also just noticed that my photoshop editing is terrible on the main fly. Watch this space.

How did you capture this? At distance with zoom? Or up close with macro? 

At a distance with zoom. I am buying a macro lens within the next month. What do you suggest?
