I took this photo of a waterfall in Tumwater Washington. I then used Photo Shop with the Fractalius plug in in post production. Appreciate any and all critiques welcomed. Thank you. Nadine
I think it is nice -- the first time! I don't believe it has the staying power of your "Neon Butterfly" though. It would be nice if the plugin had a control where you could make the "Fractals" all line up horizontally or vertically -- in a waterfall some how it is "unnatural" for the water to be "falling" sideways.
Overall, I think the plugin does a fabulous job of "Fractallating" both the darker and vegetation areas. Like all plugins, it must be applied carefully in a few select situations where it works well with the image and to not become over-used -- as perhaps HDR has been.
Good job!
I think possibly, this is a step too far with this plug in. I have to agree with Randall, it just doesn't have the same impact as your butterfly. I think it's perhaps too abstract for my liking.
One thing I would caution about with this filter is this. When you do the first one you'll get a lot of + feedback because it's different. As time goes on, and the effect is seen more often, it becomes common and loses its visual uniqueness. That is happening here. IMO you will be better off, in terms of artful photographs, to really work on fundamentals of technique and composition and let the photograph sail or not sail on its own merits. Plug in filters always end up cliche'.
Sorry, this just doesn't do it for me.
