Permalink Reply by Larry Mayo on February 12, 2012 at 9:37pm That is beautiful!! The only thing I could add might be to lighten the trees at the bottom or possibly crop them out a little. Maybe if you moved to the left a little which I know is easier said than done in those situations. A polarizer filter might have darkened the skies a little but you can do that with Capture NX or lots of other packages. OK I'm nit picking. I really think it's great. Wish I were there..
Permalink Reply by Diane Bowles on February 13, 2012 at 9:12pm Thanks for your nice comments Larry. I would have liked the trees a little lighter too and the sky a bit darker. I'm afraid my editing skills leave something to be desired at the moment. I've also discovered I really need to start shooting in RAW to give myself more options. Thanks again.
Permalink Reply by nathan mccreery on February 26, 2012 at 10:14am Diane, nice photograph. I am not a fan of silhouettes, but in this case I think it works well since the primary point of interest is the mountain lit by sunrise. A common error committed by people is over editing. This is not. Congratulations.
Permalink Reply by Diane Bowles on February 26, 2012 at 11:11am Thanks very much Nathan. I actually did no editing on this at all which is nice because I'm really not very good with editing. Been taking a few classes where the instructor drummed in "get what you want in the camera", so this is what I am trying to do - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Thanks again for your kind words.
Permalink Reply by Bobby Hamby on February 26, 2012 at 12:14pm This is a beautiful shot, as the others have pointed out. I know it is always best to get it right in the camera, but a little editing can sometimes help. I did a quick edit just to see how it would look, I hope its OK with you. I know others could do a lot better job at editing then this, I only took about two min. on it. It is a beautiful photo either way.
