The focal point is very skewed...Since the focus is not very prominent the blurry in the background hurts my eyes. I like the idea though. Pretty color.

Excellent idea and colours. I would have used a higher aperture number just to reduce the depth of field a little.

Thank you guys for your input...

I think based on what you've said that I'll take multiple exposures at different apertures to see which is most pleasing.

In this case I was concentrating on the water drops and not the entire image...

Perhaps cropping to the water drops themselves would be a better way to go with this?

It's definitely a good idea to take a few shots at varying aperture as

there's no real time restriction on doing these..

I agree with Ashley on the confusion aspect of the shot, there needs to be something more to hold attention.

This is a quick example showing stamen and a couple of drops i took a while ago which holds more attention:

Would this help at all ?

A crop on this particular image doesn't add anything - try for a different type of flower composition, you can add water droplets to anything with a spray and vary the aperture to see the DOF blend..

Water drops can work a couple of different ways.  Either as ornaments on what you are shooting, or as little lenses.  For little lenses, you really have to frame/focus on the water drop and have something in the background that you can display within the water drop.  I can't think of where I have a good example of that at the moment.  If you are shooting water drops on flowers, you need enough of the flower in focus that it looks like a flower.

What CC is referring to containing detail in the droplet is a 'refraction' image,

i do like the composition of this image below although the detail is small in the many droplets..

Understood, thank you guys for that input and the examples...

I appreciate the help

Nice colors but overlap and the bokeh effect prevents focus onto the drops
