You got a great shot, even the sunset color in the Grand Canal water. If you have Photoshop or Lightroom you might see if you are able to bring out just a little detail in the buildings, just a little, to see how it looks. the silouette may be just right as it is, but I always like to look at other possibilities.

Oh, I am not such a good expert of any of these tools but I will try to fix it. Anyway I was planning to start working with the Photoshop. But I have a question which may sound a bit strange: does the picture still stay the same after one edits it in Photoshop? How necessary and natural is that? Thank you in advance and thank you for the remarks. That is exactly what I need!

when you get done use "save as" and give it another file name, then the original will stay as is.

Actually, I use Lightroom about 90% of the time so if you are going to get some software to work on your photos, I would start with Lightroom first. It is part of the Photoshop family but you can get Photoshop later.

There is a Lightroom group on this site you can join for more information. Look for the LT group

Beautiful! Love the color in the sky. Our sky in PA was like that last night and it was just breath taking. Now the scenery not so much. Haha! We'll be in Venice in May. I just had to come see your photo.

Like some of the other commenters I would like to see more detail in the buildings. I also think a slightly different crop would add impact. My recommendation - Think rule of thirds and place the horizon on the bottom third line, as the water (although a lovely color) is not as exciting as that sky.

If you want to start learning about PS (I am completly self taught) check out the many tutorials on youtube, it has been a great help to me. You may find in the beginning you over do it as you want to use all the goodies but after a while you will calm down and it can really help with little things that bug you about your pic. I always save as and you can also make more than one pic out of one photo.

BTW like the pic but I would crop some of the botton off. It would be interesting if you had changed your camera settings to give the water a softer look. You can also find tutorials on this on the net as well. Google is a wonderful thing and can allow you to find answers to your questions.
