I know this is a Photoshop group but I thought a discussion at some point about the advantages/disadvantages between Photoshop and Apple's Aperature would be worth getting into.
What are your thoughts? Has anyone tried both?
Hi John,
I use both.
But it's no good idea to compare Photoshop and Aperture.
This two are very different. And they are used in different areas.
Photoshop it's very good for all aspect of graphics, and, yes, you can manage photo.
Aperture it' all dedicated to the photos. And with Aperture you can only manage all the aspect of the photografic art, but you can't make photomontage or some different graphics artifacts.
I use them both and am completely dependent on them both. Aperture is my storage/organization and retrieval SW, I do a decent amount of editing with it. The new version has much better editing. Aperture also bridges to PS allowing me to open a photo in PS through Aperture, create significantly shopped artifacts and then save the image in Aperture. I find Aperture's healing tool is a bit better, I like the blackpoint and sepia sliders of Aperture much better, but PS is the only way to insert vector art, really create excellent effects and bring your ART out.
