What kind of a computer are you all doing your processing on?
Is it a laptop or a desktop?
Mac or PC?
If a desktop, did you build it yourself, by buying a kit or parts, or is it as you bought it off the shelf at the store, or have you modified it in some way, and how much?
If you modified it or built it, what did you do?
Did you add a graphics card? If so, was it a gamers graphics/video card, or a professional graphics card.
Just curious as to what others are using for a work station and maybe others are also.

Permalink Reply by Larry Van Valkenburgh on March 10, 2011 at 9:41am Well as might have seen in describing my stuff, one was an old Dell, which I bought when I had to send my Compaq Presario back to HP for repair, which I will never do again. Both are now maxed out with graphics cards, memory and processors. The problem I ran into was when the Dell could no longer handle the growing photo catalog with scanned negatives in it. All photos are stored on external hard drives, but I'm up to 60,000 photos and have hardly begun, so I had to do something that was better than my old Dell.
I'm just looking for clues to what others are using.
The computer I've built I can do just about anything I want with it now too.
Permalink Reply by KDesigns on March 10, 2011 at 3:12pm I now use a HP Touchsart PC for everything as I use CS5 which is memory & graphics card hungry.
It has 1tb hd, 6 gig ram, Intel Core i5 processor, and 1gig graphics card.
When travelling I use my old Acer laptop 4 gig ram 512 graphics card with external hard drives, it runs CS5 but have to save often otherwise it can freeze when doing multiple filtering... also it wont run the 3d effects in CS5 too good either... as graphics card not quite up to speed for CS5
Permalink Reply by Chico Salgado on April 1, 2011 at 8:47am I use a imac G5 (2.5gb ram) and a laptop Pentium dual core (2gb ram).
Softwares: Lightroom 1.1 and Photoshop CS4
