Permalink Reply by Nick on August 7, 2011 at 7:02am Like the proverbial bad penny, I always seem to pop up when there is a need for balance. The article may well be satire with its intent, however I believe it will actually do more harm than raise chuckles. How many people who were reading that and thought, "hmm... I think I have about a hundred of those kind of post-processed photographs..."? Come on, hands up!
The very nature of Photoshop is to encourage trial and error, first we mimic, maybe a tutorial or two, then start to branch out on our own and voila... one of the 10 no no's appear. This is because it is a learning process! What is this tool for, where are the tools, how would this look on my photograph?. Think of a baby/toddler, is that not the same process of learning, think of a teenager dealing with parents that don't know anything... does all this sound familiar?
If you are just starting out on your journey with Photoshop, please ignore this satirical rant. Keep experimenting, try everything and anything. With time, you will develop your own view of what is good and what isn't.
After you do, bring up those first versions that you worked on and have a good laugh, you will see how far you have progressed and how far you may still need to go. The day we stop learning something new, is the day we might as well lay down and die.
