Images and photoshop - do you mix them togehter?

I think the best way to get the perfect photo, even if its already shot in the best quality, is to work it out in Photoshop. If you have any ideas about photoshopping, any tricks or tips, just join this group and see how the magic happens.

I find it interesting that those "no Photoshop purists" seem to negate the multiple exposure techniques and the darkroom manipulations of those like Ansel Adams. All of which are kin to Photoshop (but dryer). They'll spend thousands on their high tech gear for their 'perfect' in camera photograph....then object to the photographic technology offered by Adobe.

Hi, I'm just new here... I do love straight from the camera photography but I also do love creating Extreme Photoshop Manipulations like this one:

Most all of my art pieces feature photography and/or parts of photography. I find it a challeng, an adventure and I'm totally passionate about each piece created. When I make that decision to photograph something like a flower for intance...I'm already opening that door in my mind and running with the possibilities. It's wild!

While making something completely surreal is great, keep in mind that PS is a great tool to even make your normal photos just that much better. A lot of times you'll get those shiny bright areas on people's faces. A neat trick to town it down, is to make a blank layer above, take the color sampler and click on a good mid-tone (normally the persons cheek area works) and then on the blank layer, color over all the skin (it will look VERY flat and odd at first). Make sure NOT to color over distinctive lines in the face, eyebrows or lips. Don't color over the nostrils or the curves of the nostril, but make sure to get the bridge of the nose. Then go to the opacity on that layer in the layer menu (to the right) and lower it down... normally somewhere around 20-40 works good. You won't completely get rid of the blown out areas, but you'll tone them down signicantly.

I'm happy to join this group because so far my art/photography falls into this group/category more than any other here. I'm a PhotShop filter freak and am constantly exploring and experimenting with the thousands of filters I use. I can get pretty wild with them and have big ideas and goals to achieve involving the results I get.
I love to print my work on Giclee' canvas and hi-glossy ceramic tiles and tile murals.

Thanks for the comments.  This is the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery (Man Fat Sze), there are so many statues, I can not remember against which wall this one was taken or what is the meaning of the sign.  Well worth the climb of 431 steps…

If you use roll paper, you have to cut it, or the printer has to have a cutter.  Left to my own devices, I would have picked up some packages of smaller paper at Costco and put a stack into the printer's hopper.  Tell the software the…
