But I jus can not get a cristal clear, tack sharp picture of the full moon, crescent moon or whatever phase the moon is at!!!

Anyone can give some advise about the right settings?.

Here is one that I consider to be quite sharp. The settings used are: Shooting mode = AE, Shutter speed = 1/160, Aperture 5.6, Evaluative metering, ISO 800, 400 mm, Auto white balance. One thing you need to remember is that the moon is always moving.

Thank you Daina! I´ll try this settings next time.
I think this is my best moon´s picture.

I used everything but bumped the ISO down to 100. It was really a bright and clear night. I use a Canon 7d with a 70-200mm 2.8 lens. There was some cropping for this. I also shot in RAW.

Hi Manuel,

If you want to get lunar details like craters and hills, don't shoot the full moon. The full moon will  give you a flat image. It is the shadows created by sunlight coming at an angle that shows the lunar details. When the moon is high in the sky, your shutter speed would be about 1/125" to 1/200" and ISO-100. Slow shutter speeds will create a bright image like a lamp in the sky. If the moon is low, you will need a slower shutter speed 1/30 - 1/60" or experiment with even slower speeds. Good luck with shooting the moon.
