The Photography Network - PictureSocial

Just joined the group.  I love night photography, just don't have enough time to get out and do it.  Here is one from San Francisco.

Thank you Carol. It was fun doing it. It took a few trys to get it right.
cool! how do you do this?
Alexandra,

When I have a little more time I will give you the instructions.
I guess I owe the explanation:

On a tripod with a 70mm to 200mm lens
That is 130mm difference so calculate the half way point, 65mm
Add the 65mm to the 70mm = 135mm
So now you have your three stops, 70mm, 135mm & 200mm
Start at 70mm for 5 sec, then slowly zoom to 135mm over 5 sec, hold for 5 sec and zoom to 200mm for 5 sec and hold for 5 sec.
I was at F32, 30 and 100 ISO

Then look to see if you got it and try again. I did about 10 shots.
Steller shot John! Another good way to use this technique is with fireworks. Have fun and push the envelope!!! :)
