Avoid Yellow Pages, very expensive especially in metro areas, and newspaper; if you check their readership the numbers are sliding downhill faster than Lindsay Vonn! Internet is the new Yellow Pages. 90% of my new contacts come through internet. Try home and garden shows and, if you are in a rural or smaller market area, county fairs. Anyplace (county fairs, bridal shows, social events) where there is a gathering of people is your target. Gather e-mail addresses and use those to prospect. Use give aways at these events to generate traffic. I have free drawings for family portrait sessions and will gather 200-250 new e-mail addresses per event. Go through the names and edit for better addresses and offer each of these a complimentary portrait session (whatever they decide to get for their use is on them. DON"T give away free 8x10's. it will erode your bottom line.) I almost always pick up 20-30 family portrait sessions per event and at our average portrait sale numbers it gives a nice boost to the monthly sales figures.

Greetings! I would love to hear your suggestions regarding what you have found as the best way to market photography...

There are so many questions and avenues to explore. How do you know which is best? There are so many "stipulations" from copyright to watermarking...

In the past I have sold locally... but am testing the waters of the internet.... Not really happy with my website... any help???
