The Photography Network - PictureSocial

Most of the pithy B&W tradition of street photography is European or at least Caucasian based. However, I live in beautiful colorful tropical Hawaii and travel mostly to South East Asia. Still, I appreciate and even emulate the "street style" on my photowalks so I have decided to post 20 or 30 of my favorite images from these walks here. They won't look like street scenes in Cologne but then they weren't taken in Cologne!

This girl was rushing to the store to buy something for mommy but she slowed long enough to look into my lens!

Because I approached this scene on a nearly noisless electric motor scooter popular in China, this man never noticed me and I was able to compose carefully including carefully avoiding the merge of his front wheel with the tree.

This man was resting from riding his Chinese-style "skateboard"!

These children approached slowly enough for me to sit on the concrete and shoot their approach from a low angle.

These workers were busily unloading a huge truckload of bricks as I walked past.

Pedal powered cargo carrying tricycles are everywhere in China!

By this point in my photowalk, the people were getting used to me walking along their street and the braver ones began interacting with me.

These gramma's are spending time socializing while beating the heat of being indoors.

While taking a walk in rural China to see the degree confluence of 36 degrees north and 113 degrees east, I noticed this farmer walking along a path leading from the fields to his village.
