Last week, I shot this under bad weather with D3s and SB-800.

I wanted to do under the good weather, but the client pushed me to do that, because they didn't have time to reschedule. After the session, they had a ceremony and reception....

Matt, I like the light in the first two photographs. It really enhances the mood in these. I agree with your comment on the third shot that the light was a bit harsh. It looks like they are being lit by car headlights because of the light spill and strong shadows. For a different subject this could work very well but suspect it was not the idea for this one. You got the background exposure nailed just a pity you weren't able to soften the strobe.

Cheers, Philip

Speedlight with 18x24" softbox on the left side.  Speedlight with GF dome pointed up on right side closer to the camera.

A single speedlight with the 18"x24" softbox, and a shallower angle.

I would've preferred softer light here, but the wind was blowing over the softbox and I didn't have an assistant to hold the stand.  The dog had arrived at the reception, and it was time to do the shot.  So this is a single speedlight on a stand.
