Have the 28-300 VC lens, love it. I'd be lost without it.

I finally sprang for the 70-300 VC. I am loving this lens! You were right, Gergory.

Joe, I'm keeping the 18-270 on my wishlist because it would make a nice travel lens.

It is a nice all around lens, but it will not compare in sharpness to the Tamron 70-300 USD VC.

Before you decide to invest in the 70-300, stop to to consider the 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD. This is the very new upgrade to the USM version of the older 18-270mm lens. The reason you should care here is that the piezoelectric drive (PZD) technology -- which handles the auto-focus and compacts the hardware to make it lighter -- combined with the upgraded VC technology makes this a lighter "do-all" lens (which is what I'd been looking for -- for light travel outings). But that's still not what clinched me on this lens. Joe Farace, in the June edition of Shutterbug, reported that the upgraded VC technology was so improved that he was repeatedly able to successfully nail bracketed shots -- hand held -- for HDR processing with this lens. My first test of the lens to hand-hold bracketed shots for HDR supported Farace's findings. You can read about it (and see my results) at my blog post on the subject: http://photopotpourri.blogspot.com/2011/05/tamron-delivers-goods-in...  So ... if you're interested, make sure you look for the PZD version of this lens.

Gregory, glad to hear that you're impressed with the 70-300. That's the next lens on my list.

Hi everybody. Anyone else have the Tamron 70-300mm VC USD? I have had mine for 3 weeks now and am very impressed with it!
