image-adjustment-hue/saturation...drag saturation bar to the left-click OK...Picture become to BW
(CS2) next to the stamp tool
(Cs3) underneath the stamp tool
click history tool- choose the brush size draw on top the area you want back to color...

Here is another way..............Edit your color image to the colors you like. Then save............next render it black and white ( I usually adjust the contrast too). Then drag the b&w over the color. Then use the eraser tool and erase where you want the color to be :). Finally flatten the image so it becomes one and save. :)

After seeing this video I did these photos using this method.

This was my first attempt (I did blue up the eyes first in the colour version before destaturating) and I think I would do it better now


A more recent photo

I just took this yesterday and I have played with it a little, but I was curious to see what everyone could come up with.. I feel like I get stuck in the same ol thing once in a while..lol Im attaching 2 different ones.. have fun.. thanks

The easiest way to create selective colour is to apply a channel mixer adjustment layer, then mask out the parts that you want in colour. This also means that you can go back and refine your edges easily :)
