great shot debbie, what hdr software do you use?
i personally like to use dynamic photo mainly for the orton color effects. If you havnt tried it should give the demo a whirl.

Hi there Debbie, This image of the bridge was a good choice and shows that you are willing to experiment and develop your hobby in photography.

You also asked for some advice on how to improve your photographic skills. Here are some suggestions.

Firstly, I think that this image would have been more powerful if the distracting foreground was not there. To avoid this, you could either get closer to your subject (The bridge) or you could zoom in to get past this obstruction in your foreground. If I am correct, your image is about the bridge. So the bridge has to be the dominant part of this photo. What could also help further, is a tight crop around the bridge with a bit less of the water, or a bit less of the sky. I think that a bit less of the water and more sky would have added to the drama around this shot. Your lovely cloudy sky adds drama here, so you have a definite beginning of something great.
the HDR processing has been slightly overdone and could be toned down a little bit to create a more dreamy feel to this shot, because there is a sense of tranquility coming through from this scene around the bridge although there is a strong drama from the sky. Your foreground looks like it could be a wall or a road of some sorts, so next time, try and get past this obstacle, go closer to the river and get lower down to get the maximum from this shot.
But with all that said, I can see that you definitely have the right idea about shooting this image.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Rory
