Hi Steve, thank you for commenting!

Yes, this was taken with just the 800 mm f8 Soligor lens (an antique film lens of 1970's vintage! lol), without any converter, but it was cropped a little.  I did shoot a couple with both my 2x, (a cheapy and a nikon TC series) but was not happy with the results.  Using the converters, actually reduces the light to the camera, so you have to slow up the shutter speed.  Hope this helps?  Thanks again!

Amazing detail John, was this taken with your 800mm Soli ?... it would be interesting to put a 2x telecon on it to see what you get....or would the double increase in shutter speed result in the motion of the Moon being rendered?.
