Jason, hello and thanks! This was my first night football shoot in quite a few years -- certainly my first in the digital era. The playing field was at a city public high school and not very well lit. Having image stablization on my Canon lens (70-200mm f/2.8L) was a big help. I used shutter priority (1/250) and ISO 3200 on my 30D, which gave me apertures mostly of f/4 (as was the case in this frame), but wider for the long-range shots. I actually wished I had shot a shutter stop or two faster. Finally, I filtered out much of the noise with Noiseware software in post-processing. I did shoot hand-held, but only for a quarter and a half. If I had planned to shoot the whole game, I'd have brought a monopod.

Nice action shot. How did you stop the action so well, retain focus, and do it all in what appears to be in fairly low light? I want to learn more about sports photography. Thanks ahead of time for any tips.
