Its pretty sharp, its clear and its curious. I mean - why are people swimming at night? It wasn't a winner by any stretch when I took but a little bit of fiddling with some crazy software and I thought I'd share it. My worst, by far, is soft images - so I'm OK with this one. Thanks again for your interest.

Comment by sandra stewart on March 24, 2011 at 7:42am: if you read Ansel Adams, he says that the photo is made in the lens. one usually can't change anything to fix bad composition. can you go back and take more photos? when you move the buildings, the pole will cut the ;photo in half and tha'ts always bad composition.

Comment by sandra stewart on March 24, 2011 at 7:40am: the only way to fix it is to crop out the black buildings or start over with new photos. see what it looks like cropped out? THEN you have that stupid pole to deal with. it's in the way.

Comment by sandra stewart on March 24, 2011 at 6:45am: I would try taking the photograph at different times of day to vary the lighting an perhaps lighten the building. I'd also try taking it putting the building on the right side and the water on the left. perhaps a good composition can be made by moving the camera to the left? you can lighten the building but it is still a huge blob ON THE LEFT o lightening it won't fix it. comnposition is just composition and the rules don't change. you can break the rules by weighting the right heavily with something else but you haven't done that. the two darks dominate the photo on the left. the two darks are very heavy. it's just composition and not a personal opinion.

Comment by Steve Barr on March 24, 2011 at 5:10am: Dee, there's no way that i'd dare to contradict Sandra !!...i do think her comment is relevant though from a rules of art perspective. Personally, i like the image just as it is - if the foreground rocks were dodged in / lightened a little (those that lie between the pile of rocks and the water) then it might lift the image a little bit. But this i just my own personal opinion you understand, i like the framing, lighting, colour tones and texture !..

Comment by sandra stewart on March 24, 2011 at 2:28am: the composition is not balanced. with the black thing on the left standing out, it is unbalanced. the large section of water is not enough to balance the big black thing building or some sort. out house i guess. put the out house on the right and not so dark to give it less weight to balance it. just the rules of art.
