The sun Princes is one big ship. The first time I saw her come under the gateway bridge I was amazed. I was looking for something that was half way up the footings not something that filled the whole span.

The second thing I found was how fast she moved, she goes under the bridge under her own control with a tug hanging off the back for later and she gets along quite well.
I found her arrival times and it’s taken me a while to work out how much earlier she would come under the bridge downstream. Just when I thought I had her worked out at 50 minutes earlier she would not turn up. That’s when I worked out she is so big she has to come under on the low tide. I also found this great satellite tracking site

Next trick was to photograph her in the low light of dawn while she was still moving but I needed a long exposure to capture her cleanly. Well that’s what they call intellectual property I guess but there are no tricks here, it’s all about timing, mud, ISO and light even if they are hours apart.

Time spent was well worth while. The photo is beautiful. The lighting and reflections, perfection. Great stuff Ian.
