This was an awesome day. I took this picture on a walk where I spent the entire day by myself and walking at my own pace. This picture was taken on April 24, 2011 over the Arno River.
Built in 1345, The Ponte Vecchio spans the Arno River at its narrowest point in Florence. The Ponte Vecchio ("Old Bridge", Italian pronunciation: [ˈponte ˈvɛkkjo])[1][2] is a Medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge over the Arno River, in Florence, Italy, noted for still having shops built along it, as was once common. Butchers initially occupied the shops; the present tenants are jewellers, art dealers and souvenir sellers.

Comment by Daniel Lang on January 15, 2012 at 6:52pm I could never afford what they sell! Gold and diamond shops span the bridge...but it was a "must" walk across thing. I wanted to capture the rower and the people looking down at him. I took this using only a 200mm telephoto and my DMC GF1 micro four thirds camera. I chose that camera for this trip to reduce space and weight in my luggage that I was toting around Europe. I've come to really love that camera too!
Comment by Tiffany Smith on January 15, 2012 at 5:24pm Wow. I'd be afraid to have shop in one of those places off the bridge. I'd be afraid that it would fall into the river any minute. Very nice capture
