Runaways
This group of trees sit away from the rest which line the shore and in the early light of dawn it was like they were running away – running to the new day as if they wanted to be the first to see it.
This shot nearly cost me the camera as I stepped in a hole in the dark and went down on one knee and had it not been for the trusty Manfrotto tripod, good old Nikon and I would have gone swimming. Oh the whole is under water by the way I forgot to mention. I think these holes are formed by stingrays burying down in the mud for food. Every time I go out walking in the water like this in the dark I give a passing thought to the great Steve Irwin and hope I don’t tread on one of those land mines that got him.
For those that photography at Nudgee Beach you will know these well and they are impressive even without the sand ripples which are well and truly photographed to death.
30 seconds at f22, Sigma 10-20mm wide angle Nikon D300 (still dry)
