I am currently a student at San Jose State, ca I am trying to get in to the bfa program for Photography and than on to the MFA!! Well ya, so I have been shooting wedding until more recently when I started going back to school full time..
My Photography Equipment:
Studio = 5d mark 2, with a horse man tilt shift lense, set up.. F4
along with two SV, and a giant soft box.. other small stuff
personal/travel D70 with 17-55 2.8, and 70-200 F4. and a 50 1.4
along with my Induro A413 tripod, and remote release..
thats about it, a light disk...
I hope you don't mind me copying your picture so that I can work on it to show you what I meant. I used the curves tool in photoshop to darken the dark areas and the contrast and brightness slider to tune the brightness and the shadow.

Actually your images is fine. It is a matter of taste. Personally I like this way better. Maybe you won't agree with me, that's all right because you are still right.
