"This is probably too late.  If you had asked a week ago, you would have had time to organize. Olympus and Canon, and perhaps other brands as well, make waterproof cameras that can withstand swimming in the water park. Your 70-200 f/2.8 lens…"

"I think you answered your own question with, "...I know I'd get some incredible shots..."  Cameras are like dogs: always need a baby sitter, but that's just the nature of the beast. There are times when there's no…"

"Tough decision. If it were me I know I'd enjoy the day even less if I'd not brought the camera as all I'd see all day are photo opportunities going by. But that's just me. Assuming your camera is not weather sealed / insured…"

PLEASE HELP< Water Park, yes or no?

I am going to a water park tomorrow (Hurricane Harbor) I love taking pics of my kids but I am worried that I won't be able to enjoy myself if I take my camera. Also I am worried that I can possibly damage it, after all it is a Water Park. I know I would get some incredible shots with my 70-200 2.8 lens but again the weight and constantly having to baby sit it makes me not want to take it. Please let me know what you would do?See More

"Lens hoods have a couple of uses, preventing flair as Gary said, preventing stray light even if it would not cause flair, which improves contrast, and it protects the front element from finger prints and minor bumps. All of the lenses I am using…"

"The purpose of the lens hood is to prevent flair, you should have received one in box with your 70-200mmVR if not they are easily found on Ebay.. http://toothwalker.org/optics/lenshood.html"

"Thanks for the tips Camera Clicker, I was wondering if I should buy a lens hood? Does it make any difference or is it just for looks? I noticed you have one on your lens,,,,,,"

"We won the game 5 to 1 wooohooooo, the pictures came out just ok. Sun was facing us so there were a lot of shadows and my son is new to soccer so there weren't many opprtunities for me to get some action shots. I guess I just need to practice…"

"Shooting soccer requires a fast speed camera. hence shoot at AE and f2.8 to get that action. you have a superb len so zoom in at the action. shooting at 9am will be better than night time."

"Healthy green grass is usually a pretty good substitution for a gray card, so you may be able to use the field itself to meter off of. I would be inclined to start out with f/4 or f/5.6. F/2.8 is probably okay a longer distances with action…"

Profile Information

About Me and My Photography Experience:
New to the DSLR world and so far I love it! I haven't turned on my point & shoot since I got my DSLR. So far pictures take outdoors are coming out awesome but inside pics are not so great! Really need to know if I should get a Speedlight?
My Photography Equipment:
Nikon D-40 starter kit, just stepped up and bought a Nikkor 70-200 VR AF-s ED lens, thing is huge and heavy but makes pic awesome! I probably look retarded with that lens on a D-40 but my next Camers should do the lens justice!
