"I've been using Aperture for 2 for years an like it. It compares to Lightroom not Photoshop. It does not have masks or layers. I use it with Photoshop Elements; NIK and Onone plugins. Onone makes a new plugin called Layers.

Im thinking of upgrading from a PC to an apple Mac and was checking out the photo software you can get for it and came accross Aperture... just wondered how it compared to photoshop?

Aperture is more of an image management application which compliments CS5 as Lightroom does.
Both are limited for advanced editing, but perfectly ok for your needs."

In my opinion nothing compares to photoshop for certian things.
I have Aperture and Lightroom3 and prefer Lightroom which now even has a layers plugin and some great presets.
There are a lot fewer times I have to go to Photoshop…"
