Dan Tubbs, Jr. said… We get a lot of rain here in Ferndale, so I know what you mean. We had a pretty sunny December and early January (our rainfall is only about 50% of normal) but it has been storming lately.
Dan Tubbs, Jr. said… Hi Angie, Welcome to PictureSocial and the Olympus users group. You live in a state with some of my favorite shooting areas. My wife and I love to spend time in Gold Beach while head for Pistol River Beach to take advantage of the amazing sea stacks and wide beach. As Papa Rotzzi says some higher end Olympus cameras can be found for good prices on the internet if you shop around. The good news is that your 12-60mm lens will be great on your higher end Oly. I bought one for my E3 and it is wonderful in all types of light.
Best regards, Dan
Papa Rotzzi said… Well, the good news is, you can pick up higher end Oly's pretty cheap these days. I am also pretty sure that the newer PEN series cameras will function well with the Zuiko 4/3 lenses in the near future. I doubt that your lens investment is a waste.
Papa Rotzzi said… Angie, I am both sorry and relieved to say "It is probably not the lens".. (though.. if you are having better luck with the 18-180, I hate that lens!)
The E-510 is old and there is in no way optimized to make use of Olympus' SWD lenses like the 12-60 and the 50-200. I think your problems are more likely caused by the older body than this lens.
Just took this test shot E-5, 12-60. ISO 800, Small desk lamp in front of my computer, hand held.. re-sized so as not to be too massive, but no other processing...
Papa Rotzzi said… Welcome to the site! I did not realize that you were new to the site or that you are an Olympus shooter when I commented. I am an Olympus shooter with a lot of experience and contacts, so if you need any help with your gear, just holler!
Earl E. Gibson said… Hello and Welcome to PictureSocial. Hope you find it an enjoyable place that you can learn and maybe teach others. We do have a wide range of User Groups. If you are interested, you can find them under the "Groups" tab at the top of the page. Hope to see you there.
