You have a superb lens for the money, i have also used this lens extensively for studio portraits. Get a rough idea of the exposure by setting to auto then switching to manual and apply the same settings. Better still start in aperture prority mode…

aperture higher and iso and shuttle speed too

Yes f/5.6 is for good light, so indoors I would not use that lens but a f/2.8 or faster. In manual mode you control the shutter speed and aperture so use the histogram to get the ideal shot.

What can I do with my 70-300mm 5.6

I bought a 70-300mm 5.6 for my Nikon D90 and I'm not happy as my shots are always darker. What can i do to come up with a good shot using this Lens. Is this really for outdoor shots only. Please help me with the right setting on a manual mode. Many Thanks
