Laser pointer as AF assist beam.

Hi all,
I have bought a green laser pointer purely out of curiosity the other day. I came back home and was experimenting with it. Then I thought of the difficulties I face with autofocus in low light or on an evenly colored object, like when I try to shoot a whilte paper for white balance. I just took out my camera, it was quite dark then, and pointed the dot to a wall, sure enough, the camera acquired focus in a split second without any hunting.
