"Beth, From one NOOB to another, event pictures are the easiest.  Just walk around ask people to stand together and take the picture.  Always take 2 shots! As far as the booth set up thats perfect. Get there early enough and pick the best…"

"thank you. This is helpful information. Most particularly the manual focus confermation. You'd figure I'd notice red flashing lights in the view finder but I don't unless I'm looking for them. I hadn't a clue it had this…"

"Some of the more expensive cameras have interchangeable focusing screens, I believe the Rebel line does not.  There are only two options I am aware of for focus confirmation:   -- With the diopter adjusted so elements in the viewfinder…"

"I was thinking about this reply and came to a discovery.   If I had the view finder set to optimum focus, then the contacts should not have been an issue.   So I've come to the conclusion that I suck at manual focus. It's always…"

"Beth, I assume you know this but your comment about borrowing contacts prompts me to add a reply anyway.   When facing your viewfinder, to the upper right of the viewfinder there is a little dial to adjust the diopter, in the viewfinder, to…"

"Thank you very much sir. She is the only human I shoot well. I prefer shooting things that can't shoot back. She has a far better eye than I do. Lucky for me she prefers drumming."

Profile Information

About Me and My Photography Experience:
My goal is to document the glory of everyday life. I live a life of not so quiet gratitude. I am Christian Taoist and an entity in flux. Oh and I'm a superhero and Pringles are my kryptonite. As for my experiance, I have none. I'm a supreme noob wannabe.
My Photography Equipment:
Canon T1i I just got for Christmas. Santa got very lucky. If he brings me a 50m fixed lens he will get even luckier. I currenlty have a 55-18m & 55-250m Canon IS lens and a Nikon flash that vexes my Canon whom I named Kendyle.

Haha, Nope, not sorry I asked. My kinda crazy.

Feel free to take me up on it, I am always willing to help when somebody is really asking. BUT, I am a resource kind of guy. I am always pushing people to resources that have helped me to get where I am (which, really isn't that far when I look close.. maybe I need better resources!)

Have you run across Scott Kelby's books yet?

So what is the "big Shoot" you mentioned? Any advice you need?

Beth, I tend to confuse even those who know me best. Chances are, if you are a noob that picked up a camera one day and saw it as an opportunity to make money.. we won't get along real well. If you shoot for the joy of shooting, for the desire to capture a moment in time, for the need to share a memory, or to create a vision that goes beyond what the eyes can see.. then we will probably get along well.

There are many seagulls in the forums.. they come in, make a lot of noise, crap all over everything.. and then leave. they take one decent shot and suddenly they are a pro. Nothing anybody says will convince them otherwise. Then there are people who may not be the best photographers, but they come with a desire to learn, to try, to grow.. well, most of the true artists in a forum like this will happily reach out and push and steer them to where they want to be.

I have not seen your work, but I have heard your voice. My reaching out is in good faith, I think there is an artist here..
