Yeah, A monopod works well as long as it's not too cumbersome to carry around attached to your camera. At very long focal lengths even the slightest movement is exaggerated. the problem with either a monopod ot a rifle stock it only controls movement in one axis and you really need two.
These little dragonflys are pretty hard to get close enough to do a real macro shot, I'm experimenting with making a steadicam to use with the UZ. I didn't realize I was that shakey until I got the UZ. I've seen some homemade steadycams that really take the shake out of videos and allows a lot more mobility than a tripod.
You was honest enough to admit you were wrong too. My point in the blog was to point out that you don't really have to get close to do a very good macro and sometimes the control of the DOF is better with UZ. Thanks for the comment>
