Asked at what point did I know I wanted to be a photographer the answer might be fairly simple. From a very early age the excitement generated by the suspense of waiting for my KODAK INSTAMATIC 110 photos to be processed at the drugstore, was almost unbearable. Far from being a professional at that point, I received my very first Reflex, a Pentax K1000 from my father when I was 10 years old and he taught me how to meter light. He later showed me how to develop my own black & white film and make prints.
Photography has changed and developed since then and my passion has grown along with it. I started out as a graphic designer & news photographer in the United States where I worked from 1992 to 1999. For the past 10 years I have been living and working as a professional fashion and advertising photographer in Madrid, Spain. Although I began work as a graphic designer in an advertising studio, I soon undertook freelance photography for this studio until finally starting up my own company, DigitalWorkflow.
I have
studied art in the Art Institute in Oristano, Italy
studied graphic design at Spartanburg Technical College.
studied under photographer Charles O. Hearon for many years.
completed a Master course of Photoshop at the University of South Carolina.
I am currently exhibiting in the National Geographic Society Gallery in London, England with "Places" which has already been to Madrid, Spain and will also be going to the National Geographic Society Gallery in Singapore.
Thanks to the years spent in graphic design, I have become expert in digital imagery which is an important component in media today. However, I have never forgotten the importance of traditional photography. Even though everything ends up in computer generated imagery, I always insist on creating a photograph in the camera. I don't accept the notion that "you can fix it after in Photoshop".
For me there is no job too big or too small, nor any challenge too great. I thrive on being challenged to do something new and always strive to communicate through the perfect image for, as Frederick R. Barnard said: “A picture is worth ten thousand words”.
My goal is to expand geographically and offer my skills and creativity to all advertising agencies through the magic of my camera lens.
