Hi Christine, I love your emotive approach, very sensitive and moving, and also cute. You do incredibly nice portraits. I can tell you do your homework going into a shoot. Very nice!
It sure sounds like you are the right person to talk to. I did the Wedding Photographer thing for a local studeo from about 8 to 15 years ago and worked like a crazy man. Of course I started as the assistant and once they started buying my photos I was on my own. After a year of that I went on my own but found that I never worked so hard for so little as doing Weddings. As I get older I've found a new desire to try my hand at photography full time. I also found many of the local Photography businesses web sites are full of mugs, t-shirts and silly things like that. I would rather try my hand at a more artistic (assuming I even have that talent) direction with Portraits and candid family series, something special you know? I may need to wait till I get to retirement so I don't destroy the cash flow.
Thank you for taking the time to chat about this.
Steve
Maybe you can help me out. You were or are an Mechanical Engineer and I assume you worked as one. How difficult was it to leave that profession and start a Photography Business (I checked out your site and it's very inpressive in the products and services you offer)? I worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 28 years (same company) and decided to move into IT for 4 years (That same company) and got back into Engineering this year. I am having a real hard time getting back into that groove and am wondering about moving into a Photography business either on my own or with a partner(s), any advice??
Thanks! I went to check your website! You really good at portraits, which is my weakness in photography! And your images are very exquisite. Yeah, I'm a Leica fan for their quality, although it belongs to my dad, lol! Leica S2 definitely makes people (including me) drooling and I'd love to have that medium format camera, but I think it'll take me ages to get one, lol!
