About Me and My Photography Experience:
I am retired and live among the Redwood trees and near the coast of Northern California. I have been taking photos for over fifty years. I shot film for most of my life, but I love what I can do with a digital camera. I sell my images at a store in town. I volunteer shooting photos for the local repertory theatre and the museum. I believe that every moment is unique in time and space. No moment will ever be exactly the same again. Because this is true, I love to capture special moments and share those images with other people. I also believe that a photo should tell a story or interest the viewer in exploring the scene further. I love to shoot landscapes because nature presents some very interesting scenes, none to be repeated exactly the same way again.
My Photography Equipment:
Olympus E3
Olympus E300
I have three lenses; 14 to 45 mm, 40 to 150 mm and a 70 to 300 mm.
Two tripods, one monopod
Studio lights
Back drop
Various lens filters
Adobe Photoshop CS5
Adobe Lightroom 2

Hi Dan,
Thank you so much for the kind comments and the message on my profile! I'm really flattered. I do consider myself lucky to live in this area, we're definitely close to some great photography spots. It looks like you are too. Thanks for taking the time to look at my images. I hope to add more soon.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for viewing some of my imagery, and th warm welcome. I love to connect with other photographers and share photos and experiences, but there never seems to be enough time to keep up. I guess i`m getting slower in my old age. It was nice to see that you involve your photography in many aspects of your life. I have many photographers and eco-travelers that join me on my expeditions. It`s always a plus to have other photographers with me. It`s a great enhancement to the experience.
Best regards, Alan

Holy Smokes! Sounds really tough. Don't drop anything on your head....I know I would. ;) I am sure that it is exciting though to be involved in something so challenging. Thanks for the comments. I have not been here a ton myself, but check in every so often. Take care and let me know how you progress!

My wife's g. g. g. grandmother, Susan Man McCulloch (1818 to 1898) wrote her memories very late in her amazing life. Being in the inter circle of Washington DC as the wife of the Secretary of Treasury under Lincoln there are a number of interesting moments long lost. I thought you might enjoy reading some or all.

Dan, We are a young country. I love history and am always amazed at the age of some of the places my wife and I travel to. August 4th we return to Scotchland where her family comes from, about 1735. We will spend a week in England and then to France and Normandy for another week. Are you a fan of American history around the time of Lincoln? All the best, Ray

This shot caught my eye because of the composition. I like the way you placed the boat to the lower right part of the frame.

Beautiful photo. Great color and wonderful composition.

Great composition! I like the vertical lines of the structure and masts.

I really like the starkness of this shot. Fog is always a great subject, but not always easy to capture. Great job on this one.

Nice series James! I also like this one the best. I think it has to do with the composition; that old "rule of thirds" seems to really work on this shot.

Beautiful shot. I love the contrast between the clouds and sky.
August 25
Wonderful composition. I really like the angle of the shoreline. Superior can get as rough as our Pacific coast.

Great treatment and wonderful POV.

Beautiful blue cast to this shot really makes it feel cold. Great job.

Great use of light and shadow. I love the texture of the floor.
