"This is beautiful, Dave and reminds me of home. I know the area well, I was born in Blayney!! (not sure where Shooter's Hill is though) the weather I know"
A keen amateur since the days of Box Brownies I struggled with the change to digital in that what you saw through the lens was not what appeared on screen or was printed without some tweaking in software. But the basics of composition and the capturing of light are the same whatever camera you use.
I love landscapes and seascapes but as I travel more I am discovering "humanitarian" photography ... trying to capture people from different cultures just living their lives. India and South-East Asia are my particular favourites at the moment.
I still have a lot to learn (don't we all!!) and I am inspired by many photographers, some professionals, but many just enthusiastic amateurs.
My Photography Equipment:
I have no patience with the "Camera Wankers" ... those who are always sprouting they own the latest gear in the belief that an expensive top of the range camera will make great images. I have seen stunning photos taken with a Point & Shoot and terrible ones taken with top end cameras.
When I look at an image that moves me ... one that tries to convey the feelings the photographer felt at the time, I could care less if it was taken with a D3 or a simple pinhole camera.
For what it's worth I own a couple of SLRs (both film and digital), a couple of Point & Shoots and some other stuff like tripods etc.

"Very nice - Looking at the photo I feel I am walking into the scene through a patch of leafless vegetation. And the tint again makes it very nostalgic. "
