“I feel that photography is often a case of being in the right place, at the right time. For that reason, I usually have some form of digital camera at my side and am constantly looking for that perfect shot or photo opportunity. Sometimes I catch the moment and sometimes I miss but there’s always a next time. When returning from a photo shoot, I’m often surprised at how the pictures turn out after reviewing them closely. It’s exciting to see more detail and even things that weren’t apparent when the photos were taken. My version of the surprise you can find in a Cracker Jack Box, I guess!
Digital photography is ideal for me because it provides immediate results and creative options. My work often features the use of high-contrast color to make a vivid impact, black and white images with a splash of color to punctuate the moment, and photos of the City’s landmarks and citizens from different perspectives. The use of computer technology to store, edit, and share is a natural fit for me. Being able to reach a wider audience on Facebook and Flickr is also a great benefit as the feedback and ideas generated help inspire and improve future photos.
Living and working in the Chicago area gives me so many opportunities to see interesting, beautiful, and often humorous scenes. Whether it’s our City’s beautiful skyline, lakefront, public spaces, or diverse people, there is a constant flow of scenes to photograph."
