I like the way you're not afraid of strong contrasts - in this one the colours, in others the black&white. Contrast is something I don't think I have an eye for, so love it when someone else just takes to it!

Richard, yes, I'm beginning to think I should have gone for the 7D :-)
I'd heard that Canon will make the adjustments, but you have to send the camera and lenses to their workshop... and I want my camera!

Another feature of the 7d. AF micro adjustments. Look around online though, there are some tests you can do to confirm that aren't too difficult. If it is off, I believe Canon will make the adjustments for you as a warranty service since the…

So a friend of mine suddenly started to show an interest in my Canon 450D. This after months of poo-pooing my interest in photography - she said it made me "special", which, given the way she said it, I interpreted as code for "slightly weird, but not dangerous". I'd taken the camera to the pub after work, and showed the group the pictures I had taken of the Royal Wedding preparations. Two years after getting the Canon EOS 450D, and I've started wondering about the future. Mostly because soon after getting the 450D, Canon brought out the 500D... and the 1000D... and the 7D... and my camera, with no flip-out LCD screen and no HD movie capability, no longer looked state of the art!

Well, where to start a blog except at the beginning? :-)
I am now in my fifties, but when I look back I must have had an interest in photography for over 40 years. My first camera was a Box Brownie - I must have been about 8 years old, does anyone here remember those? With a little bit of imagination, you could pretend that the viewfinder belonged to a Hasselblad...
