Thanks for your comments. The "Milky Way" was fun to make. I re-tried it this weekend without much success. The position of that segment has shifted so much in the night sky since early Summer that I will have to find a good spot to compose well without the trees in the way. Technically,
f3.5, iso200, manual focus, no VR, WB sun, exposure 20 secs. When it is quite dark w/minimum light pollution iso800 can be used.
I desatured yellow and orange in that particular shot, as I increased fill light.
Thanks Ian for your kind words regarding my photographs. I know how you feel about not being able to get out because of the bad weather. Our winters here on the north coast of California are very wet and cold. We average 41 inches of rain a year and this year we are above average. When it is not raining, it is extremely cold. I was shooting one evening just before Christmas and it was so cold the battery in my camera kept dying. I had to keep a spare in my pocket and switch them out.
