I'd go with something cheap and/or simple. The teacher is going to want you to turn off all the auto stuff anyway, so why pay for it. If you decide to shoot film in the long run you'll know more about want you want in a film SLR after…

If you're more into Nikon you can probably pick up an F100 for around that. Its one of the best Film SLRs out there. If fully manual is required you can always go with a Nikon F2. These can be had pretty cheap.

The photos provided by James appear to have been taken with a Fuji FinePix S5700 or S700. Both point and shoot cameras with 10X zoom lens.

Sometimes you have no control over the light, except on camera flash or not. If you are shooting friends, family or a model and you have some control over the venue, you can do a lot more with lighting. Your subject should be in sharp focus, even…

Something is the range of 80mm is ideal...too short and the person looks like they have gained weight...longer just moves the photographer too far away from the subject...of course doing this could come into play depending on what you want in your…

My first SLR was a Hanimex Praktica camera sold at JC Pennys as their "SLR-1" camera. The "SLR-1" name was actually only printed on a thin aluminum covering they glued to the front of the prism housing. Needles to say, the…
