"It's also quite helpful to have a reference such as Kodak or a colour corrected previous image to work side by side with - i find it keeps me reigned in with the processing lol"

James Baker replied to Joey's discussion post processing for portraits? in the group Portraiture
"Absolutely. Any post processing is good in moderation. Too much can actually make the photo worse. Especially if you shoot in JPEG instead of RAW. Keep things more subtle and they will look better."

James Baker replied to Joey's discussion Nikon D300s replacement? in the group Nikon Users Group
"I wouldn't expect a new D300s for at least another year. Nikon seems to have a 2 year cycle in that area of their product line. Although the D7000 looks to make the D300s #2 in the DX line for now. It's what I'm going to buy next.…"

"The D300S is fairly new. Not sure there will be a replacement for a while. I am waiting for the next iteration of the D700. I love mine and long for a second full frame. My D300S doesn't quite cut it."

Yikes! Sorry for the wait! My work flow is based on Camera Raw, Photoshop & Lightroom for cropping and final touches. I believe the idea of HDR is never overdoing it. Yeah, It looks kinda awesome, but personally, the visual senses really don't see the world this way and thus making most heavy HDR work look very chromatic and unnatural. So, my work flow is to use the HDR information that Photoshop gives me, and I'll figure out what to cut out, or tone down in terms of the details HDR gives me. Sometimes I would bump it all out and then soften it up completely.
