I really want the 16-35mm and preferably a L series to ensure compatibility with a future body upgrade to possibly a Mark sometime in the future. Currently shooting with a 50D. My friends are telling me to go with the 17-40 because it's cheaper and that you will rarely use it at 2.8 if i am using it for landscapes.
