Just returned from Las Vegas, NV, and the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Professionals International) conference.  16,500 photogs, assistants, vendors and others all gathering at the MGM Grand for a week enjoying each other, vendors and some of the best professional photogs in the world speaking, interacting and giving hands-on advice to the rest of us.  I did get a chance to walk around Vegas a little and do some shooting.  But mostly I walked from event to event to trade show to event.  There…

I just returned from a weekend in Tahoe trying to capture some of the color. We don't have spectacular color as in the midwest and on the east coast, but it is worth the trip to the high country this time of year. A friend and I went up to Sorenson's Resort on Friday and the color was quite lovely,

I was privileged to be able to participate in the Sacramento Fashion Week runway fashion show last Thursday night. Many young brand new designers were able to show their latest fashions and I got to try my hand at runway fashion photography. Phew! It was really hard. The lighting is bad and harsh and the models move pretty fast. I got a couple shots that I liked, luckily. I'm not sure I would want to specialize in runway fashion photography, but it was fun this time.

I talked my husband into going to Reno, Nv, with me on Saturday. This was a supreme sacrifice for him because he works hard all week and values his rest on the weekend.



The alarm went off at 2:00 a.m. and we dragged ourselves out of bed, showered, loaded up the camera gear and were out the door by 3:00. Went to a photo shoot in Old Town Sacramento on Saturday. It was very hot (probably in the low 100's) and I am usually worthless in the heat, but when it comes to taking photos, it just doesn't matter how hot or cold it is. It was so much fun. It was held at a comedy club called "Laughs Unlimited". Many of my photographer friends were there and some familiar and beautiful/handsome models along with some new faces.
